Tan Zuoren Sentenced to 5 Years
Social activist Tan Zuoren (谭作人) was sentenced to 5 years for inciting subversion. The judgement was made one hour ago, his family members were not allowed to attend the court.
Tan Zuoren was formally accused of defaming the Communist Party of China in email comments about the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. He was arrested on March 28, 2009 for subversion of state power.
